AUX WARS

Privacy & cookie policy

Last updated: 16 August 2026. This explains what Aux Wars collects, why, and what your choices are. Short version: we collect the minimum needed to run a multiplayer game, we don't sell data, and the music player is YouTube's, which behaves per YouTube's own policies.

What we collect

  • Guests: a random identifier in a cookie (so the game knows which player you are), your chosen display name, and your in-game actions (songs submitted, votes) for the duration of games.
  • Account holders: additionally your email address, username, and persistent game history (results, placements, ranked rating).
  • Analytics: we use PostHog (EU-hosted) to understand product usage: events like “game completed”, with no advertising identifiers. Analytics is never required for the game to work.

What we don't collect

No music or media (we never host any), no payment details, no contacts, no precise location, and we don't sell or share personal data with data brokers.

Cookies

  • Essential: aux_guest (guest identity) and Supabase authentication cookies for logged-in sessions. The game cannot function without these.
  • Analytics: PostHog uses local storage/cookies to distinguish visitors.
  • Third-party: during song playback, the embedded YouTube player may set its own cookies under Google's privacy policy. These load only when a snippet plays.
  • Advertising: we use Google AdSense to show ads outside of live gameplay. Google and its partners may use cookies to serve and measure ads; in the UK/EEA you will be asked for consent before personalised advertising cookies are set, and you can choose non-personalised ads. See how Google uses advertising cookies.

Storage and retention

Data is stored with Supabase in the EU (Frankfurt). Live game state is deleted shortly after games end; completed match records persist to power stats and history. You can request deletion of your account and its data via Contact.

Your rights

Under UK/EU data protection law you can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data. Contact us and we'll sort it.
